Bump, any news? I'm waiting for another amp/dac solution to be delivered but it would be nice if we had an update.

I have firmware 1.0.6, I am returning this crap of a player. I can use a 10 year old ipod for music. The AMP (USB-DAC) is what I needed for my laptop and M9 really is incapable of playing anything decent.

otro usuario con USB DAC lag , este alcanza mas de 1 segundo, ademas tiene muchos cortes en el audio que resulta muy molesto.

este problema simplemente deja inutil esta función, creo que migrare a un reproductor Sony.

Another user has provided a fix which i confirm works on my M9.

Too bad Fiio does not know about this fix to post it here as well.

The latest firmware does not fix anything.

Follow his instructiones and you will have no more issues, in short, put the sample rate to 24 bit 192 khz and the buffer in Fiio control panel to 2048.

http://fiio.net:8000/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=44309

L.E. - sound quality wise my other X3 II is cleary superior in dac mode than the M9. So new drivers have to be released for the M9 that fixes this. As a conclusion i will stick with the X3II for DAC. Even with the fix from above there are sometimes small clicks and pops.

You can fix the lag by putting 192khz/24bit in the windows sound driver configuration. It plays movies like a charm now
On My computer (win7) i have to choose safe mode and 8192 buffer, so the sound is not skipping.

The issue of the input lag is fixed for me on Mac when manually selecting 192kHz.

I'm running on a MacBook Pro with OS 10.14.6 and ... it doesn't work.

I'm also running out of options with this device ... as this lag is felt even when pausing and unpausing the music from the Spotify app that's running on this Mac.

What the heck is going on? I mean ... is it this hard to f...en fix this? FiiO? Really?

Seems they absolutely don't care. When using 196Khz/24bit options, you still have a delay which is perfectly suitable for music or movies but when you're gaming it's awful. And still on windows, when DirectSound doesn't output anything for a minute, the lag comes again. You have to reset the asio buffer size in the fiio driver dac app.

Today came the notification for the v1.0.7 Firmware upgrade and ... nope, the lag issue is not fixed and I really doubt they will ever do it! That 1.5 seconds lag is phenomenally bad and it just about ruins the whole idea of an USB DAC.

And with this I definitely do confirm that they don't care, like at all.

They don't care about the customers, definitely they don't care about the audio and what they're products are offering. They certainly care about the Japanese fonts and the ability to uninstall the "Gallery" app. Because that "Gallery" is so much more important than the second most important feature of this device.

Good job, FiiO! This is the first and the last product I will ever get from you. And definitely won't recommend it ever again.

Hi,

Is the lag happens when watching movie and using the Bluetooth output in the player?
Due to the characteristic of Bluetooth wireless technology, a slight delay occurs in the receiving end, compared to the transmitting end. In particular, when receiving sound from a video, the sound may run slower than the image.

Best regards

No it doesn't happen when you watch a video using the Bluetooth output. It happens when using it as an USB DAC, which ... is not allowed to happen. I managed ONCE, I mean ONCE in 3 months since I have this device to actually listen to a video without the lag, this after several connects and disconnects and exiting and entering DAC mode and then I made the mistake of pausing the video and stepping of from my Mac for about 10 minutes. When I unpaused it ... the lag was present. I'm no brilliant super mind to figure out that something is going on softwise, not hardware wise ... when processing the sound coming through. Is there a buffer there? Is there ... I don't know how you handle things inside ... but ... something is going on when using it as an USB DAC. And yes, I'm using the Fiio - LT-TC1 cable, so there won't be any discussions about faulty cables.

And one other thing: this lag ... is not at all SLIGHT! 1 to 1.5 seconds in a video is making the experience unbearable! Even in Spotify you can find it because you click on the "lay" button and the music starts 1 sec later. So yes ... as an USB DAC ... this should not be allowed to happen!

el problema está reportado hace años, creo que simplemente no lo quieren reparar , después de todo ya compramos su producto, por mi parte lo único que puedo hacer es no recomendar productos fiio a mis contactos.

y de paso vender mi M9.
