Q: Why can a mechanical sound be heard from the X7 when earphones are plugged / unplugged?

A: The X7's headphone output reaches the headphone socket through a relay.  The relay would briefly break the connection between the amplifier and the headphone socket when the X7 is powering on and off, to avoid power on/off transients from reaching the headphones.  The relay is an electro-mechanical part that makes an audible "click" when working (corresponding to when the relay is engaging and disengaging).

I'd like to report that I hear quite a lot of mechanical 'clicking' sounds now and then in Pure Music mode. More worryingly, the sound has got markedly worse on a few occasions, ie big reduction in volume level and bass performance, as though there is a fluctuating problem with the amplification. Or is it the relay not working properly ?

I'm on firmware 1.4

Please advise urgently.

I get this click sound which is normal during shut ON/OFF of my X5II.
Source: X5II, Amplifier : iFi iCan Micro + E12A + K5
Headphones: HD800 + X2 Fidelio + V-Moda M100 + V-Moda XS + UE9000.
IEMS: Shure 535 + KEF 200M

I've loaded the 1.41beta and there is no difference. The sound quality fluctuations are not acceptable.
Please advise how I get a replacement X7 under warranty.
